Week 3 Educator Collar Cheat Sheet

Mannerly Mutts E-Collar Usage Notes (Educator)

NOTE 1: REMEMBER THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN COLLAR OPERATION DEPENDING ON IF YOU ARE USING IT IN THE 1 DOG MODE OR THE 2 DOG MODE.  IN TWO DOG MODE, YOU NEED TO USE THE T BLACK BUTTON (NO OTHER BUTTON ON THAT SIDE) TO ACTIVATE VIBRATE OR ELECTRONIC.   VIBRATE MODE WILL LOOK LIKE TWO HOCKEY STICKS IN THE WINDOW, AND ELECTRONIC WILL SHOW THE LEVEL THE DOG IS WORKING AT.  IN ONE DOG MODE, THE T BUTTON IS HOW YOU VIBRATE THE DOG.  THE RED BUTTON ON THE OTHER SIDE THEN BECOMES THE BOOST OR CONTINUOUS  DEPENDING ON THE MODE.  I USUALLY SET IT TO BE ALL MOMENTARY (M WILL SHOW IN THE WINDOW ONLY) BY FIRMLY PRESSING THE TINY BUTTON ON THE BACK UNTIL IT IS IN THAT MODE.

NOTE 2:  TO CHANGE FROM ONE DOG TO TWO DOG (AND VISA VERSA) IF YOU NEED TO, YOU HOLD THE RED BUTTON, THEN THE BLACK BUTTON THEN THE T BUTTON WHILE THE SETTING IS SHOWING ZERO IN THE WINDOW.

  1. Turning E-Collar on and off.  (UNLESS YOU HAVE THE BOSS MODEL WHERE THE COLLARS ALSO HAVE ON AND OFF BUTTONS)
    1. Two red dots (one on collar and one on remote) are magnets.  This turns off (or on) the collar only.
    2. Line them up.
    3. Test with vibration button, which is the lone button on the side
2.  Turning the remote on and off
                a.  Large button on back turns off collar (small button changes mode so don't touch that).
                b.  Hold the large button down until you see the screen on the front come on (or go off if                           you are shutting it off for the evening.
  1. Charging E-Collar Daily.
    1. Turn collar off AND remote before putting it on charger.
    2. Charger used with collar and remote.
    3. Round hole covered by rubber in back or side (remote) is where it plus in.
  2. Correct fastening of the E-Collar.
    1. Should be very tight around dog’s neck.   You will think it’s too tight, but should not cut off air supply or interfere with eating or swallowing. (Would be very hard to do).   Note:  I would put a dab of nail polish where it should be.
    2. Metal points on back need to be flush with neck in order for the correct level of stimulation to get to the dog.
    3. NEVER EVER FASTEN LEASH TO E-COLLAR.   LEASH SHOULD ALWAYS BE FASTENED TO FLAT COLLAR (or metal training collar).  OTHERWISE LEASH PRESSURE POINTS ON E-COLLAR ARE TOO MUCH FOR DOG, AS THERE IS NO EVEN PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION.
  3.   What are the problems of not fastening the E-collar correctly?
    1. Irritation to the neck.
    2. Arks caused by electrical stim not contacting correctly, or no stim at all.   Inconsistent and wrong corrections.
NOTE:  ON THE TWO DOG COLLAR YOU ARE BORROWING THE RED BUTTON IS FOR A SECOND DOG ONLY.  DO NOT USE IT ON THE TWO DOG COLLAR.  ON THE ONE DOG COLLAR, THIS RED BUTTON IS A BOOST OR CONTINUOUS DEPENDING ON WHAT MODE IT IS SET UP.  STANDARD FOR ONE DOG IS CONTINUOUS FOR THE RED BUTTON, MOMENTARY FOR THE BLACK BUTTON NEXT TO THE READ BUTTON, AND VIBRATE FOR THE STAND ALONE BLACK BUTTON ON THE OTHER SIDE.

THE REMOTES LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME FOR TWO DOG AND ONE DOG, BUT THE BUTTONS ARE DIFFERENT AS NOTED.

note also remember, the only button you are using to correct is the black button next to the red button (although if it is set up as the booster mode, as it is when the only the M is showing in the window, then you can use that to go up 5 points).   Also if your dog is not responding (and the collar AND remote are in fact on, and even as you go up the dial it does not seem that your dog feels it), then make sure the collar is tight enough (remember you don't want to gag him, but you should only be able to put two fingers under the collar comfortably as opposed to your whole hand).
